Liz Barbour Announces Re-Election Campaign: Your Representative, Working for You

Dear Hollis Friends and Neighbors,

I am excited to announce that I am running for re-election as your New Hampshire State Representative. It has been an honor to represent the community my family and I have called home for more than 27 years.

One of the most rewarding parts of serving as your representative has been meeting and talking with so many Hollis residents. Those conversations help me understand what matters to you and where I can help. I believe good representation begins with listening, being accessible, and working for the people you represent, regardless of where we are on the political spectrum.  

Over the past two years, I have advocated for our local farmers and small businesses, helped residents navigate specific issues with state government, supported local organizations, and worked to remove unnecessary regulatory barriers that stand in the way of opportunity. These may not always be the issues that make headlines, but they are the kind of practical work a state representative should do.

Getting Results for Hollis

In my first year serving you, I was appointed Vice Chairman of the House Environment and Agriculture Committee.

I sponsored HB 1186, now law, protecting New Hampshire’s small-scale and local egg sellers from unnecessary regulation, directly benefiting Hollis homestead farmers.

I co-sponsored HB 1763, now law, which creates a study committee to address concerns about a community residence home in a Hollis neighborhood. As Chairman of the committee, I will work with citizens and state agencies to develop clear, reasonable guardrails that balance compassion for vulnerable residents who need these homes with the safety, character, and property values of neighboring families.

When Beaver Brook Association asked for help navigating cumbersome state regulations affecting its nature-based preschool, I took their concerns directly to state officials who began working toward a licensing pathway that recognizes this innovative model of early-childhood education. When completed, it will make Beaver Brook Association and the state of New Hampshire leaders in nature-based preschool education in New England and throughout the United States. 

Looking Ahead

New Hampshire has much to be proud of, and I want to build on what is working. Our state ranks #1 in taxpayer return on investment, #1 for the lowest poverty rate, #1 for the lowest crime rate, and #2 for job opportunities. Our low-tax approach, strong economy, safe communities, and commitment to individual opportunity make New Hampshire one of the best places in the country to live, work, raise a family, and build a business. 

There is more work to be done. I am committed to protecting the New Hampshire Advantage, including keeping our state free from a broad-based income tax and sales tax, while supporting responsible spending and policies that keep New Hampshire affordable and competitive.

Government works best when it is closest to the people, giving communities a strong voice in the decisions that affect them. I will continue to support tools to address rising property taxes, such as the Taxpayer Protection Act, that give you, the taxpayer, the opportunity to vote for tax relief while respecting local control. I will defend parents’ rights and educational choice, safeguard our elections and constitutional freedoms, support responsible environmental stewardship that respects private property rights and local zoning, and protect the privacy, dignity, safety, and opportunities of women and girls,

We have a strong Republican team who is seeking to represent Hollis. I am proud to run alongside Dr. Jim Kelly and Representative Jack Flanagan as the Common Sense for NH ticket. In the months ahead, Jim, Jack, and I will be out knocking on doors, talking with neighbors at the transfer station, and meeting voters face-to-face.
