Candidate for State Representative, Hillsborough District 35
Meet Sue Homola
Thank you for your interest in donating. I am funding my own campaign during the primary. However, if you want to support our Hollis State Rep Republican candidates in the general election, please do so using the link below. These funds will be spent exclusively on candidate support after the primary.
WHO I AM
After spending a long career in the Air Force, first as a meteorologist and then as a military spouse, my family chose to start the next chapter of our lives here in Hollis, NH.
Service to our nation is important to my family, and I am now a proud military mom of three children serving on active duty in the Air Force, Marines, and Navy.
As a native New Englander, I am grateful to be living near my family and to be a part of the Hollis community. Our town has many beautiful landscapes and friendly neighbors who put their hearts into serving their community. I truly enjoy volunteering and participating in town events such as the Christmas Luminaria Stroll, Old Home Days, Grape Festival, and Wreaths across Hollis. In addition, I also participate in the Hollis Brookline High School Civics Department’s Veterans Day and Memorial Day classroom programs.
Hollis State Representative Service
I was elected to the NH House of Representatives in 2020, and requested to serve on the NH State House Environment and Agriculture Committee so Hollis farmers could have a voice in Concord. I was also handpicked to serve as a substitute on the Science, Technology, and Energy Committee, where I was able to utilize my 7+ years as an Air Force meteorologist to evaluate complex legislation.
As a military spouse, I acquired a variety of work experiences and opportunities while moving my family to many locations across the United States. While living in Washington D.C., I assisted Red Cross leadership in crafting Service to Armed Forces policy and guidance, in support of Department of Defense personnel. I also worked as an organizational advisor for a consulting firm whose diverse advisory board included individuals who had served at the highest levels of national government.
As a freelance writer, I’ve worked as an executive-level speechwriter who focused on effective leadership practices. As a contributor to Military Spouse Magazine, I penned articles on emergency preparedness and family support topics for a diverse, multi-cultural military audience. For 6+ years I’ve worked as a hazard mitigation planner and assisted emergency managers in identifying natural hazards that affect their communities, and how they can employ mitigation solutions to build local resiliency.
I am a passionate advocate for public health, and particularly youth health. I currently serve as the New Hampshire Chairman of Smart Approaches for Marijuana, a drug prevention organization which provides educational resources to legislators and the public.
WHY I AM RUNNING
I am running for State Representative because our nation and our state are facing many challenges, and leadership at the local level is critical. Hollis deserves to have a representative who puts families first, and not someone who will play politics with your safety. We also need more independent thinkers in Concord who are willing to speak truth to power, even when that means challenging their own party. During my time in the NH State House I served Hollis with integrity and common sense, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to do so again.
